Where to find internships

  • AfterCollege: Search for open internships and entry-level positions, get found by hiring companies, and connect with employers directly.
  • One Day, One Job: A Cornell University grad created this blog to profile companies around the country that are hiring at internship and entry levels. You can search for internship and entry-level opportunities too.
  • InternMatch: One of the biggest internship search sites. And they have a helpful blog too.
  • Idealist: The internship search with a nonprofit bent, Idealist can connect you not just with internships but volunteer opportunities and action groups. And when it comes to gaining applicable experience, those can be just as good as (if not better than) a traditional “internship.”
  • Indeed.com: Don’t discount good ol’ Indeed. This no-frills job search aggregator lists plenty of internships, is easy to use, and gets the job done.
  • Personal Branding Blog: Expert insights for students who want to learn about self-advocacy, both in the admission process and when looking for a job.
  • The Muse: It’s hard to stop clicking through the personalized work tips, job postings, educational resources, and inspirational posts from these seriously savvy young professionals.
  • WayUp: Just for college students and recent grads, this site can connect you with internships and entry-level jobs.

My favorite part of CollegeXpress is the 800+ lists which have all kinds of hard-to-find information. These lists are helpful when I’m creating college lists, and I also use them to give students a feel for a particular college or university.

I joined CollegeXpress just a few months ago. I had been struggling with severe anxiety, causing me to not be able to tour schools and make sure a college would be perfect for me. I came across CollegeXpress one day when I was searching for colleges online, and it completely changed the game. I was easily able to choose colleges that would suit me, and I also entered a few giveaways! Thank you so much!

To say that CollegeXpress is a helpful tool would be an understatement as it is much more than that. Before finding CollegeXpress, all I knew was that I wanted to go to college, it was going to be insanely expensive, and I felt lost. CollegeXpress has given me access to resources such as helpful tips for applications and scholarship [opportunities], and helped guide me in a direction where I feel confident moving forward and pursuing a career. CollegeXpress has helped instill a spark in me that makes me want to continue and supports me in doing so.

$10,000 Scholarship Winner, 2021

I first discovered CollegeXpress during my sophomore year of high school while researching colleges that interested me. My SAT prep class the following year further familiarized me with the opportunities available through the organization. CX has personally helped me by exposing me to a diverse selection of schools as well as scholarships and life tips that have provided valuable guidance in my college search.

This scholarship will help me adjust to college life without worrying as much about tuition. This gives me more room to truly explore and benefit from all aspects of higher education. I plan to study Conservation Biology and work protecting species/ecosystems. I’m looking forward to getting field experience and seeing firsthand the problems research is solving.
